Easter

Easter Sunday was a busy Sunday for the Muldoon area. The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church held a sunrise service with a very nice early morning attendance coming to greet the sun and welcome the promise that Christ brought on his resurrection. There were approximately 30 community members, and a little one too, who came out for this wonderful service that was held out in the open air of the park pavilion.

Following the early morning service coffee and doughnuts were served. This also gave everyone a chance to visit and start their Easter Sunday off in the right frame of mind. The 10 a.m. morning service was packed as many in the community chose to fellowship and worship with this up and growing little church.

Church News

The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church (SG2C) is growing stronger every Sunday in their new digs, in the former old Methodist Church just behind the park. They are worshiping on Sundays beginning at 9:30 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts along with some fellowship prior to the 10 a.m. worship service. They welcome anyone and everyone to come check them out.

SG2C is working hard to bring in the youth of the area a great place to gather, learn about God and truly have fun doing it on Wednesday nights. ROPE, Rely On Prayer Everyday, is meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. This is a youth group for all kids ages 13 and up. SG2G wants to help them learn they can be Christians and have fun too. On Wednesday nights Stray Gathering provides a meal to fill their bellies and teach them the Bible all in a way that is fun.

On Thursday nights SG2C is starting Bible Study with Steve Merrifield at 6 p.m. Bring your Bible and a thirst to learn. Here is a chance to jump into a study with others in the community. There is no cost, no commitment, just a chance to come and learn more about the Bible and maybe meet a few more people in the community.

Mark your calendars for an exciting event SG2C is preparing for, a very special concert by Jackie Cox on April 30 at 10 a.m. This talented musician is coming to SG2C to bring a free concert. Jackie is an award winning entertainer. He has had the song of the year, album of the year and male vocalist of the year to name a few of his accomplishments. Come out and join in the fun.

Out And About

Jennifer and Clay Rightmer had a full house for Easter. Daughter, Lane Rightmer; son, Reed Rightmer both made it home for Easter. Also coming in were loads of Jennifer’s family including her dad, Will Howard and his wife Marilyn of Horseshoe Bay; her sister, Julie Zavala, her daughter Kaylin and son Zack of Georgetown and coming in all the way from Canada, her brother Wade Howard.

Nancie Blair has been busy. She recently traveled to the Fort Worth area to visit with her mom, Elaine Lang and her sister and brother in law Lu and Fred Ginapp. They all went to the Texas Rangers opening day game. It was a great opening game as the Rangers won. Then over Easter they kept it low-key by traveling to their church in Houston for Easter services and then breakfast. Great granddaughter Cadence got to participate in the children’s egg hunt between services.

It is good to have Nancy Cherry home in time for Easter, so she could sing in the big Easter Sunday service at Flatonia Baptist Church. Nancy traveled over to Columbus, Georgia with the help of her son Martin Cherry, Jr. Nancy got the chance to spend Spring Break with her daughter Anne Marie, who works there. They had a great time visiting CSU, where Anne Marie works, checking out local art museums, eating at great restaurants and doing all the mother/ daughter things they could squeeze in. Nancy reports that Columbus is beautiful, but does not have the beautiful wildflowers like Texas. Plans were made to get together again the next time in Texas when Anne Marie will be performing in Victoria’s Bach Festival in June.

Kathy and Frank Chlumsky enjoyed a wonderful family Easter when both daughters Jennifer Dong and Summer Smith-Williams and their families came in for the day. The grandkids, Connor, Hunter, Olivia and Marcus had a great Easter egg hunt. And of course, they topped the fun egg hunt off with confetti eggs for the finale. They enjoyed a nice lunch and some wonderful quality family time.
