More on Hospital Land Deal

The Lee County-based company that loaned St. Mark’s Medical Center $350,000 now appears to own the 38 acres of land that the hospital put up for collateral. The land is located just south of the hospital along US 77 on the north end of La Grange.

Last week we reported on the $350,000 loan that St. Mark’s Medical Center borrowed from CR 230 LLC through a deed of trust involving 38 acres of hospital land that was filed at the Fayette County Clerk’s Office. The deed of trust was dated May 17. After the story came out, several readers informed the Record about a release of lien dated May 24 between CR 230 LLC and St. Mark’s, which was filed at the Clerk’s Office a week later, on May 25.

The document states that “in exchange for certain agreed to consideration, Borrower and Lender have agreed that Lender will release its lien against the Property.”

That same day, a warranty deed was filed at the Clerk’s Office transferring ownership of the 38 acres from St. Mark’s Medical Center to CR 230 LLC. The deed was dated May 23.

The records at the Clerk’s Office list Alan and Robyn Roberts as the managers of CR 230 LLC. The Record has attempted to reach St. Mark’s CEO Mark Kimball for comment on this development, but he had not responded at the time of this publication.
