Military Honors Available for Veterans’ Funerals

Upon request, members of the H. J. Ehler American Legion Post 102 and the Fayette Memorial VFW Post 5254, perform Military Honors for fellow veterans. Pictured, left to right, are Richard Gray, First Vice-Commander of both posts, John D. Marburger, Judge Advocate for both posts, Dick Frenzel, Chaplain for both posts, and Andy Kruppa, Commander of Post 5254. Since 2017, the posts have performed Military Honors for 43 fellow veterans. Other detail members include Mary Gray (Post 102 Adjutant), Weldon Koenig, Glenn E. Altwein, John Battle, James Bramblett, Bobby Bedient, Odis Pfeiffer (Commander of Post 102), Joe Kruppa, Ed Alvarez and Joseph Carroll. The performance of Military Honors includes ceremoniously folding the American flag and playing taps, a final tribute to one who has served our country in our military. Post 102 meets on the second Wednesday of each month, Post 5254 meets on the third Tuesday of each month, both meetings starting at 6 p.m. and both are held in the Veterans Center north of the Fayette County Fairgrounds.
