Mentors Honored at LGISD Board Meeting

La Grange ISD began a mentor program three and half years ago with four mentors for the students in AEP (alternative education program.)

The mentor program has grown quite a bit since its beginning. There have been 29 community members mentor students in LGISD since its inception.

Currently there are 16 community members mentoring students throughout the district.

They are Jim Cordell, Jaci Elliott, Lesley Karonika, Mark Elvig, Laura Logan, Terri Wagner, David Driskell, Dawn Terry, Caleb Parks, Becky Snyder, Cliff Giese, Verlia Mosley-Rhodes, Evon Carter, Jeff Parker, Gary Martyr, and Sandy Brown.

Several of the mentors were in attendance at Monday night’s meeting. They were presented with certificates of appreciation.

To be part of the mentoring program, the mentors agree to spend at least 30 hours per week with the student who they have been matched with. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, contact the administration office (979) 968-7000.
