McHazlett’s Contract Extended With Raise
The La Grange I.S.D. Board of Trustees approved a threeyear contract extension for Superintendent Andy McHazlett along with a three percent raise.
The school board hired McHazlett back in April and his first day of work was June 1 of last year. The contract extension is effective June 1. He replaced Bill Wagner, who retired as superintendent in May.
McHazlett was earning a base salary of $155,000. The three percent raise brings his salary to $159,650.
The school board met in executive session on Monday night, Jan. 16, to conduct an annual performance review of McHazlett. They reviewed a number of other personnel decisions Monday night. Following the executive session, they voted to approve McHazlett’s extension along with the following teacher contracts:
• Kara Koether, 6th grade elementary teacher;
• Jesus Martinez, elementary special education teacher;
• Bonnie Busch, diagnostician;
• Tanja Chovanez, speech language pathologist;
• Katie Gross, special education licensed professional counselor; • Taylor Jensen, support specialist; • Codi Kadlecek, director of special education and 504;
• Susan Kalina, speech language pathologist;
• Amy Keilers, ARD facilitator; • Brandi Lindquist, ARD facilitator; • Jessica Melton, certified occupational therapist assistant/ assistive technology;
• Cheri Oltmann, diagnostician; and
• Rhea Wagner, diagnostician.
The board also approved the following paraprofessional hires:
• Stephanie Underwood, child nutrition site supervisor;
• Virginia Weishuhn, cafeteria manager for high school and middle school;
• Vicky Manriquez, cafeteria manager for elementary school;
• Denise Fuentes, elementary educational aid; and
• Leslie Soto, elementary educational aid.
