Mark Elvig Running for County Attorney
“My name is Mark Elvig and I am running in the Republican primary for the position of District and County Attorney of Fayette County. I am a true Republican having voted Republican in every national and statewide election since I became eligible to vote in 1980, first voting for Ronald Reagan. I am a 40-year lawyer with both trial and management experience. I was a courtroom litigator for the first 22 years of my career in state and federal courts, and then in-house counsel for a publicly traded (NYSE) international oil and gas service company, serving the final 13+ years as general counsel. In that position, I managed and advised on all legal issues for the company, which had more than 5,000 employees in more than 50 countries. I have owned my home in West Point for 16 years, before moving here full-time upon my retirement in July 2021. I have been active in Fayette County organizations, even before moving here permanently, and since retirement have been active in the schools as a substitute teacher and practicing law. Integrity is an important core value to me. With hard work, integrity, and the ability to work with others, I succeeded at every level of my career, even if the new opportunities presented unfamiliar challenges to me at the beginning. I will be a good representative for Fayette County and I look forward to the opportunity to serve you. I strongly support law enforcement and stand for aggressively protecting public safety, especially those cases involving drugs, violent behavior, and domestic violence. This year, I offer a choice to the voters, something you haven’t had for the County Attorney position for multiple decades. The voters deserve options and now you have it. I would appreciate your support and vote on March 5, 2024.”
