Man Tried to Hide Cocaine Near Child

On WednesdayApril 10, at approximately 4:46 pm, Sgt. Ryan Meagher of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on a 2009 gray Hyundai Sonata for a traffic infraction in the La Grange area.

Contact was made with the driver who had a two-year-old in the back seat.

After further investigation, narcotics were located inside of the vehicle and on the driver’s person. The driver admitted to Meagher that while being stopped, he attempted to hide cocaine in a seat pocket which was within reach of the child.

The driver identified as Edward Jones, 53 of Schulenburg, was arrested and charged with several drug crimes as well as endangering a child and tampering/fabricating physical evidence.
