Local School Enrollments Up and Down
The schools in Fayette County provided the Record with their beginning-of-year enrollment numbers. School officials said these numbers may fluctuate slightly with late enrollments or transfers.
Enrollment at the five public schools (La Grange, Schulenburg, Flatonia, Fayetteville and Round Top-Carmine) stands at 3,733. Enrollment at Sacred Heart in La Grange, St. Rose in Schulenburg and Faith Lutheran in Warda brings the total number of students in Fayette County to 4,010.
La Grange I.S.D. gained 34 students over last year., from 1,876 to 1,910. The biggest jump is in the third grade, which gained 22 students. La Grange’s freshman class is the biggest class in the district with 173 students.
Schulenburg I.S.D. enrollment was down 13 students, going from 663 to 650. The Elementary school lost 16 students while the high school gained 3.
Enrollment at Flatonia I.S.D. is up 23 students, from 626 last August to 649 this year. Flatonia lost eight students in the elementary while gaining 25 in the high school. Flatonia’s Whispering Hills campus gained six students, from 7 last year to 13 this year. Fayetteville I.S.D. lost 12 students, going from 303 to 291. Round To-Carmine I.S.D. also lost 12 students, going from 245 to 233.
Among the private schools, Sacred Heart Catholic School in La Grange gained eight students, going from 100 last year to 108 this year. Enrollment at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Schulenburg stayed the same at 153. Faith Lutheran High School in Warda also reported the same enrollment as last year at 16 students.
