Local Man Dies in Rutersville Wreck; Other Driver Arrested
A local man died in a twovehicle wreck on State Hwy. 159 in Rutersville Saturday evening, Nov. 19. The driver of the other vehicle was arrested for intoxicated manslaughter.
Karl Goehring of Walhalla was killed after a pickup truck crossed the centerline and struck Goehring’s vehicle head-on. The wreck happened around 7:05 p.m. It was the day after Goehring’s 47th birthday.
According to a preliminary report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Goehring was driving a 2004 Chevy Tahoe north on SH 159. Taylor Wayne Levick, 23 of Woodsboro, was driving a 2016 Ford F-250 south on SH 159.
The DPS report said the Ford pickup traveled over the center stripe and struck the front of the Tahoe. The Tahoe rolled onto its top. The pickup came to rest in the ditch. Goehring died at the scene.
Levick was arrested for intoxicated manslaughter with a vehicle. As of Sunday, Nov. 20, he remained in jail at the Dan R. Beck Justice Center on a $50,000 bond.
Goehring was a member of the Ledbetter Volunteer Fire Department and owner of Round Top Heating and Air. He leaves behind a wife and two sons. He was also well-known in the community as a musician and was a dear friend to many.
