Lisa Johnson a Chef Competition Finalist

On May 20 the voting started for Celebrity Chef Carla Hall 2024 “Favorite Chef” competition.

La Grange native Lisa Johnson is finalist for the award and is hoping to get the support from her family, friends and classmates to vote for her to be in this grand event. The winner will be on the cover of Taste of Home magazine, cook with Carla Hall, and take home $25,000.

Here’s some of Lisa’s answers to the competition questions:

Who or what inspires you to cook?

When I was about 5 years old my Beautiful Mom, the late Sadie Mae Ray, gave me my first Easy Bake Oven. I was so inspired after baking and decorating my first little cake! My six children, three grands, friends and family love my cooking. I cook a variety of food many times creating seasonings in the kitchen. I always put my own twist to all types of food to deliver that special unforgettable taste of goodness! I love for people to take a look and appreciate how it is plated up for them.

What’s your all time favorite dish to make?

Spaghetti, fried fish, beef tips, barbecue ribs and chicken, meatloaf, pepper steak, shrimp fried rice, gumbo, pig feet, holiday special turkey, dressing, seasoned green beans, mustard greens collard, honey sweet butter corn bread.

What would you do with the $25,000?

I would purchase a food truck to help me start a family owned business. I would be so Thankful and excited for an opportunity.
