Resignations were received from the following teachers: Deborah Thorp – elementary special education, William McGonagle – high school coach and special education, Cynthia Heying – 18+ special education, and David Cooper who is resigning his position as high school coach.

Administrative Reports

Superintendent Andy McHazlett reported that the current enrollment is 1,881 which is up by 13 students at the same time last year. The average daily attendance (ADA) is 1,739.77. The ADA number is how funding is determined.

Assistant superintendent Stacy Eilers reported that high school UIL academic district events were almost complete. Many of our students have done well. One Act Play has advanced to the area competition.

Director of operations Sharon Muzny reported that the playground has been resurfaced by adding more of the crushed tire pieces.

HVAC Equipment Proposal

The high school building has many HVAC units approaching 30 years old. The units have been repaired as much as possible. In December 2021, a five phase plan was presented to the board for the district’s HVAC needs. The board approved phase 1 in the spring of 2022 and it was completed in the summer of 2022. Sharon Muzny came to the board at Monday night’s meeting asking for the request for proposals for the phase 2 of the high school HVAC replacements as well as an additional request for proposals for a failing HVAC unit at the middle school. The district is going to move forward with the requests for proposals.
