LGISD 2023-2024 School Calendar Approved

La Grange ISD 2023-2024 school calendar that was approved at Monday night’s meeting. Highlights include:

• First day of school – Aug. 17, 2023

• School holidays – Labor Day, Sept. 29 (an open football Friday), the week of Thanksgiving, two and a half weeks at Christmas (Dec. 21Jan. 8), MLK Day (Jan. 15), Spring Break (March 11-15), Good Friday and Easter Monday (March 29 and April 1, bad weather days)

• Last day of school – May 23, 2024 (graduation)

• In-service, workdays, and purposeful focus days (student holidays) – Aug. 7-11, Aug. 14-16, Oct. 9-10, Jan. 8, Feb. 19, May 24.

This calendar includes 183 teacher work days. This is four less than the state requirement. Since LGISD is a district of innovation, they are allowed to apply for a waiver on the requirement.

Summer School

The summer is filled with multiple summer school activities. All programs are Monday-Thursday with the exception of Camp Invention.

• June 5-29 – General education (grades 3-8,)

• May 31-June 26 – Camp Summit (K-grade 2)

• May 31-June 26 – Kinder Camp/1st grade enrichment

• May 30-June 29 – Bilingual/ ESL (PreK)

• June 5-23 – Credit recovery (grades 9-12)

• June 19-23 – Camp Invention
