LG Woman Dies in a One-Vehicle Accident

A La Grange woman died in a single-vehicle crash on SH 237 just south of Warrenton on Friday, Oct. 21. The crash happened around 8:15 a.m.

A preliminary report from the Texas Department of Public Safety said the driver, 78-yearold Carolyn Lehmann Fritsche of La Grange, possibly died from an unknown medical issue.

The report said Fritsche was driving a white 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup north on SH 237. Trooper Louis Gabler investigated the accident and reported that the vehicle was swerving on SH 237 just prior to the crash. The vehicle left the roadway and entered the ditch on the east side of the road where it grove over a culvert.

The vehicle then went across both lanes of traffic and crashed through a fence on the west side of the road. The pickup came to rest in a field about a half of a mile north of the intersection of FM 1291 and SH 237. Gabler reported that the vehicle sustained “very minor damage.”

Gabler wrote in his report that he has “strong concerns that (the) driver had an unknown medical issue.”

The final report was pending completion of an autopsy.
