LG City Manager Finalists Picked, But Council Still Not Releasing Any Names

La Grange City Council selected finalists for the City Manager position during a closeddoor meeting Monday night, Nov. 14.

The Council did not release the names or the number of finalists. Interim City Manager Frank Menefee told the Record that he was not authorized to release the names. On Tuesday, the Record filed a request under the Texas Public Information Act to obtain the names along with their credentials and their responses to a candidate survey from the City.

The Council scheduled a special meeting to interview the finalists on Wednesday, Nov. 30, starting at 2:30 p.m.

The former City Manager, Shawn Raborn, served La Grange for nearly 30 years. The selection of a new City Manager could be the most important decision the City Council makes for decades to come.

The Council has been especially tight-lipped about the hiring process. The Council has, so far, elected to conduct the search without any input from the general public. The City hired a consulting firm, Government Professional Solutions, to conduct the City Manager search, at a reported cost of $21,500.
