LG and Schulenburg to Have Contested City Council Races

The cities of La Grange and Schulenburg will each hold a contested election for City Council in May.

The deadline for candidates to file for a place on municipal election ballots was Friday, Feb. 13. In La Grange, three candidates filed for the Ward 3 seat that is up for election this year. Incumbent Kimberly Newton will face challengers Pam Giese and Gene Carson. There will be at least one new face on the Council after May - Dylan Schlotterbeck - who is running unopposed for Ward 2. The incumbent, Violet Zbranek, did not file for re-election. Incumbents Kathy Weishuhn (Ward 1) and Bryan Kerr (Ward 4) are also running unopposed.

In Schulenburg, incumbent Clarence Ahlschlager will face challenger Randy Mican for Place 4 on the Council. Place 3 Alderman Roger Moellenberndt and Place 5 Alderman Kathy Kleiber are unopposed.
