Ledbetter Death Being Investigated as Homicide
A man was found dead from apparent gunshot wounds at property in the Ledbetter area Tuesday morning, March 5.
Lee County Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger reported that his office received a 911 call around 9:54 a.m. reporting a deceased person in the 1100 block of County Rd. 123, located between Ledbetter and Dime Box.
Lee County Sheriff’s deputies responded and discovered a deceased male victim with gunshot wounds at a residential property. Sergeants with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office criminal investigation division also responded, along with the Pct. 2 Constable and Texas Rangers. Investigators collected evidence at the scene.
“The death of the male victim is being investigated as a homicide,” Durrenberger said in a press release on Tuesday.
Durrenberger said the suspect or suspects are unknown at this time. Durrenberger said investigators are withholding the name of the victim pending notification of family members.
The Lee County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace conducted an inquest, and the victim’s body was transported to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office in Austin for an autopsy.
