Six La Grange Elementary School students participated in the “Hello World Demo Day” at Google in Austin on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Sixth graders Harper Hess, Liam Lowes, Allison Hutchins, Antonio Villlalobos, fifth grader Oliver Schmidt, and fourth grader Vyvynne Friemel were chosen to present their projects to the audience. Hello World is the curriculum used by La Grange ISD to expose students to Computer Science as early as first grade. The company partnered with Google to celebrate students with exemplary achievement in the program. The students have worked throughout the year to build virtual reality worlds that can be explored through the Meta Quest 2 VR goggles they use in the classroom. Denise Fuentes teaches the class and nominated the students who were ultimately chosen by Hello World.
