Knox Memorial Scholarship Established
Amanda (Zoch) Knox was an active and contributing member of the La Grange and Warda communities for many years.Through her service, she made a lasting impression on countless individuals. Knox was a teacher of Social Studies for seven years at the La Grange Middle School and an active member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She worked with the gifted and talented (GT) students and helped train teachers in the use of upcoming classroom technology and best teaching practices.
In 2016, Amanda was diagnosed with breast cancer. While going through chemo treatments and surgery, she continued to teach. In the summer of 2017, Amanda was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, a rare but fatal type of brain tumor and passed away in December of 2018.
Amanda was a devoted wife to Cory, mother to Emma, and friend to many and enjoyed helping others by volunteering her time at church and other community functions. Amanda’s family and friends would like to honor and remember Amanda and her educational-driven legacy by creating the Amanda Knox Memorial Scholarship Fund, which is a 501(c)(3) designated non-profit organization. This academic-based scholarship given to an 8th grade student will pay full tuition for all four years at Faith Lutheran High School in Warda, Texas, assuming the student continues to meet the criteria outlined in the scholarship application.
Faith Lutheran is open to all students, regardless of religious affiliation and offers a caring, nurturing and loving environment.

Most area middle schools should also have packets available. The deadline to apply is May 1.
