Knights of Columbus, CDA Memorial Service Held Nov. 14

On the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 14, the annual commemoration of departed members of the Knights of Columbus, Chromcik Council No. 2574 of La Grange, Hostyn, and Plum, along with the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Annunciation No. 1962 of La Grange and Plum, and Court Queen of the Holy Rosary No. 2282 of Hostyn took place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange.

Recitation of the Rosary began at 6 p.m. and was led by KC member Larry Sulak. The Memorial Service and Mass commenced after the Rosary with Grand Knight Hector Cervantez giving the welcome.

During the solemn ceremony, the names of members who departed this life since the memorial a year ago were read and family members and/ or friends carried a lighted candle in procession. These candles of remembrance were placed on a table in front of the altar by KC member Jody Supak.

Remembered by Grand Knight Hector Cervantez: Edwin Hughes, Edward Posas, Bernard Mozisek, Arnold Janda, Patrick Kalina Sr., James Weikel and Andrew Srubar. Court Annunciation Vice Regent Sherry Hebert memorialized four Catholic Daughters; Sheron Zapalac, Helen Jo Campbell, Loretta Brugger and Josephine Huelsebush. Court Queen of the Holy Rosary Regent Brenda Fietsam commemorated one member, Margaret Burton.

In addition to the above named, a keepsake program also listed the names of all other deceased members, 344 Knights and 177 La Grange/ Plum, 29 Hostyn Catholic Daughters. The banners of the organizations were displayed at the side of the altar.

Celebrant of the Mass was the Rev. Felix K. Twumasi. The homily was also given by Rev. Felix K. Twumasi.

Music for the Liturgy was provided by Ken Brothers of Saints Peter and Paul Parish of Plum. The reading for the Mass was recited by CDA No. 1962 member Melinda Dunk. Prayers of the Faithful were led by Melinda Dunk. Gift bearers were CDA Court No. 2282 member Barbara Mach and KC member Morgan Smith. Altar server was KC member Larry Sulak. Eucharistic Minister was CDA No. 1962 Recording Secretary Carolyn Weishuhn.

Afterwards, a time for fellowship took place that included a stew supper provided by the KC’s and desserts by CDA Court No. 1962.
