KJZT Family Life Society No. 31 Meets
On Feb. 19, the first quarterly social of KJZT Family Life, Society No. 31 St. Frances of Rome of La Grange was held at 4:30 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Church Narthex meeting room. President Elizabeth Kallus led opening prayers that included praying for members who passed away since the November social, namely Ruth Chovanec and Benjamin F. Chovanec.
Pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags were recited, reading of the Nov. 13, 2023, minutes was dispensed, Treasurer Barbara Eilert filed her report, and bills were approved for payment.
Secretary Marilyn Kothmann read several thank you notes and KJZT State Office correspondence that included KJZT Family Fun Day will be June 9, 2024, at Splashway Waterpark in Sheridan; KJZT Junior Division is having their annual raffle; there is a 2024 KJZT Family Life Sales Contest; and State Director Joyce Kurts has announced her retirement.
KJZT Clerical Endowment Fund enrollments report by Vice President Nicole Ramirez showed three sympathies and one birthday by Society No. 31, and seventeen enrollments by individuals. One cheer card was sent to a member. Kallus gave the publicity and KJZT Traveling Unity Rosary reports.
Wrap up: On Feb. 2 during Catholic Schools week, Society No. 31 presented goody bags for the teachers, staff, and Fr. Brian at Sacred Heart Catholic School in La Grange. At the March 24, Sacred Heart School Spring Festival, Society No. 31 will sponsor the plant wheel game.
New information: The annual feast day Mass for the intention of Society No. 31 will be Saturday, March 9, at the 5 p.m. Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Flag Day proclamation signing for the Marshall Program was discussed. Two of the 2024 Society No. 31 social dates were changed: the months stayed the same, but the new dates are Aug. 5 and Nov. 7.
Attendance prize was won by Phyllis Chavarria and the Memorare was the closing prayer.
