Kimball Earns National Health Care Executive Recertification

Mark Kimball, FACHE, President and CEO of St. Mark’s Medical Center (SMMC), recently earned his recertification as a Fellow of theAmerican College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), the nation’s leading professional society for healthcare leaders. Mark has been a FACHE since 2007.

“The healthcare management field plays a vital role in providing high quality care to the people in the communities they serve. Having a standard of excellence promoted by a professional organization is critically important,” said Deborah J.Bowen, FACHE, CAE, president and CEO of ACHE. “By becoming a FACHE, healthcare leaders demonstrate a commitment to excellence in serving their patients and their community. Healthcare executive Fellow status represents achievement of the highest standard of professional development.”

To obtain initial Fellow status, candidates must fulfill multiple requirements, including meeting academic and experiential criteria, earning continuing education hours, demonstrating professional/community involvement and passing a comprehensive examination. To maintain Fellow status and ensure current industry knowledge, FACHE professionals must earn a minimum of 36 continuing education hours related to healthcare management and administration or retake another comprehensive exam every three years, plus complete four volunteer activities, including two community/civic volunteer activities and two healthcarerelated volunteer activities.

“ACHE is an excellent organization for helping healthcare executives maintain their institutional knowledge and broaden their awareness of current industry practices and advancements,” said Kimball. “I appreciate having the opportunity to participate and learn from their leaders and the Fellows.”

The American College of Healthcare Executives is an international professional society of more than 48,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations.
