On a Thursday afternoon in July, nine Kenmar residents took the stage at The Bugle Boy to perform for their family, friends, and caregivers. The concert was the culmination of creative musical workshops led by award winning singersongwriters Terri Hendrix and Lloyd Maines at the Kenmar Residential Services offices in La Grange. Participants sang their chosen and original songs to a cheering crowd with the assistance of the Bugle Boy’s professional sound engineer Ryan Lee.

Kenmar provides services to individuals with intellectual disabilities and residential opportunities in Schulenburg, Weimar, Giddings, La Grange and Smithville, with day programs at the La Grange office.

The collaboration between Terri, Lloyd, Bugle Boy staff and the Kenmar staff, Jeanie Allen and Angela Alexander, produced phenomenal blessings for all. Seeing the artistic and performing talents was a true treasure.

This program is one of the Bugle Boy Foundation’s music-based outreach programs in Fayette County. Terri Hendrix is part of the Texas Commission on the Arts’ prestigious Texas Touring Roster and performs regularly at the Bugle Boy with her touring partner Lloyd Maines, a member of the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame. They both serve on the Bugle Boy’s Artist Advisory Committee. The Bugle Boy is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization presenting live music most weekends and community outreach programs.
