It’s Stock Show Season in Fayette Co.
$10,000 for Top Steer in Schulenburg and $8,000 in Flatonia
On the heels of the Flatonia Junior Livestock Show two weeks ago, The Schulenburg Junior Livestock Show took place at the Schulenburg Expo Center from Jan. 19 to 21 last week. The show ended with the premium sale on Saturday.
More than 90 youth exhibited projects in the show. Schulenburg FFA Advisor Brad Lux said this year’s show attracted a lot of buyers to the premium sale on Saturday.
“As a whole, the show was up from last year,” Lux said. There were a lot of new buyers there. There were a lot of buyers new ones and old ones. We had a good crowd.”
Lux said this year’s show included sheep entries for the first time in several years.
“This is the first year the lambs have been back in five or six years,” Lux said. “The lambs were taken out of the show and this is the first year they’ve been back. The amount of people interested in showing lambs this year really kicked it off. The commitment they put out warranted putting the lambs back in, and they followed through with a lot of good animals.”
