Items Stolen From a Downtown LG Bar Recovered Tuesday
La Grange Man Arrested Jan. 3
La Grange Police and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office teamed up to solve a recent burglary at The Crown Bar in La Grange.
Owners of The Crown Bar reported on January 2 that someone broke into their property at 114 S. Main St. The culprit got away with two mirrored tables, a mid-century couch, heat lamp, a bicycle, tarps and even ashtrays.
Investigator David Smith of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office obtained video evidence of a suspect.
Members of the Fayette County Narcotics Unit identified the suspect. Officers located the suspect on January 3 and found him to be in possession of the items that were stolen from The Crown Bar.
Officers with La Grange Police and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office returned the items to the owners of The Crown Bar later that day.
La Grange Police arrested 40-year-old Cal Smith of La Grange for the crime.
He was charged with felony theft.
The Narcotics Unit also recovered a fire pit that had been stolen during the course of the investigation, Sheriff Keith Korenek said in a press release Tuesday.
