Incredible Knockouts Make Donation

On Saturday, Sept. 10, the Incredible Knockouts made a donation in the amount of $6,000 to the Rebuilding Fund at the Queen Of The Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn. The donation was made in memory of Verlene Kuntschik, who was a member of the Incredible Knockouts. Each year Verlene made a snack basket that consisted of baked goods and sausage for the live auction at the team’s annual “Help Us Help Others” Shrimp Boil. The team combined efforts to recreate a basket similar to Verlene’s, including jelly made with her recipe. It was decided to sell it with the agreement to match the donation up to $2,500 to the Hostyn Church in her memory. The basket was purchased by Stephen and Judie Lev of Flatonia for $2,600 and the Knockouts matched it. After the event, additional donations were made to the team with the request that they be added to our donation. The Incredible Knockouts are a family-based team that started as a softball team, but through the years became more complex. The team enjoys doing community service activities together and that led to forming the “Help Us Knockout Cancer” Relay For Life team in 2007. In 2021, the team became a 501(c)(3) organization in order to expand their ability to help others in the community.
