I-10 Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Possession Charges

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports on Tuesday around noon, Drug Interdiction Investigator David Smith conducted a traffi c stop on a 2006 Ford passenger car for a traffic violation on I-10 eastbound at the 663 mile marker near Flatonia. Smith made contact with the driver and detected several criminal indicators associated with Drug Trafficking. Consent to search the vehicle was given and Smith located 10 bundles (kilos) that field tested positive for Cocaine hidden throughout the vehicle including in the dash, rocker panel compartments, and in a rear seat pillar. Assisting Smith at the traffic stop was Deputy Herman Olvera. Arrested and transported to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center was 27-year-old Ivan Euresti of San Antonio who was charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance.
