House Fire in Muldoon Monday
Muldoon, La Grange and Flatonia firefighters battled a house fire on FM 154 Sunday afternoon, March 24.
The call came in around 2:50 p.m., and 911 operators initially dispatched the La Grange Volunteer Fire Department. The location was just north of Muldoon within the Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department’s service area, so they also responded. Flatonia Fire and Rescue was called to assist as well.
“When we arrived, it looked like the source was in the attic,” said Muldoon Fire Chief Stephen Kelly. “The fire was coming from the eave and roof ridge.”
Muldoon VFD responded with eight firefighters and four fire trucks. La Grange VFD sent six firefighters on two trucks, and Flatonia FIre and Rescue responded with five firefighters and two trucks.
Kelly said strong winds on Sunday complicated their efforts. Firefighters managed to keep the blaze contained to the home. No other structures were harmed, and there were no injuries. Kelly said the cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time.
Fayette County EMS and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the fire.
First responders left the scene around 6:15 p.m.
