Hospital Owners Cite New Target For a Reopening
Progressive Health Group hopes to open their hospital in La Grange this spring, possibly in March.
Dani Dominguez of Progressive Health told the Record last week that the company is awaiting license approvals before it can reopen the former St. Mark’s Medical Center, which the company has re-branded Progressive Health of Fayette. The hospital has been closed since October of 2023.
Progressive CEO Quentin Whitwell announced back in September that the company wanted to reopen the hospital in January or early February of this year. Dominguez told the Record last week that licensing approvals have taken a little longer than expected.
Dominguez said workers have been getting the hospital ready for operations, especially the emergency room, which will be among the first services available.
Progressive has also taken over the Bluebonnet Trails primary care services in Fayette and Lee counties, which will eventually be moved inside the hospital. The hospital will feature an in-house pharmacy as well.
County leaders including Fayette County Judge Dan Mueller have worked closely with Progressive during their purchase of the hospital and subsequent reopening efforts. Mueller issued a statement last week concerning the recent news.
“Progressive Health has invested significant time and money, preparing the facility for opening,” Mueller said. “Progressive Health has an outstanding record of providing quality rural health care.”
