Highway 77 Widening Project South of LG Begins

Construction to widen US 77 south of La Grange began last week. Lucea’n Kuykendall, spokesperson for Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), reported that the project involves a roughly 1.5 mile stretch of US 77 south of FM 155. Crews will widen the shoulders of the highway from six feet to ten feet along that stretch of roadway.

The travel lanes will remain 12 feet wide.

Workers have already moved the fence line back on the west side of the highway to make way for the wider road.

Construction crews began clearing brush last week. Kuykendall said the project includes removing and replacing three centerline drainage structures as well.

The estimated completion date for the project is Nov. 13.
