Herb Society Plant Sale Returns to Round Top March 13-14

It’s almost time for the Herb Society of America - Pioneer Unit’s annual plant sale Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14. Celebrate Spring by replacing plants and refreshing beds that were freezedamaged from the great selection of bedding plants, herbs, shrubs, roses, succulents and trees. There will be new varieties and old favorites as well as lovely garden gifts and food items in the Thyme Well Spent Shop. Bring a wagon to haul all the great plants you’ll find.

The sale will be held on the west terrace of the beautiful grounds of the Round Top Festival Institute at 248 Jaster Road in Round Top from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. both days. Credit cards, cash and checks accepted. Admission is free. Proceeds from the sale provide college scholarships and support for the gardens at Festival Hill and the Sensory Garden at Brenham Elementary School. Find out more at herbsocietypioneer. org/events.

The Round Top Festival Institute and the Pioneer Unit of the Herb Society of America also would like to invite you to the 2026 Herbal Forum, “Dishing the Dirt on Herbs,” hosted at Festival Hill. Celebrating Turmeric as the Herb of the Year, it’s a weekend dedicated to practical gardening and herbal wisdom. The program on Saturday, March 14, features expert-led sessions on soil health, native Texas homestead gardens, the creative use of edible flowers, and exploring the wonders of turmeric. There will be optional hands-on workshops on Friday. It’s a wonderful opportunity to gather with fellow plant lovers and grow your gardening skills. On Monday, March 2, at 11 a.m., the Town of Round Top will conduct a ceremony in recognition of Texas Independence Day. The event will be held at Round Top’s Town Square, and it will include speeches, a display of historic flags, and cannon salutes. The program will end around 11:30 a.m. The public is invited to attend.

RT-C ISD 

Feb. 27 is both a student holiday and staff development day at Round Top-Carmine ISD. Other happenings for the upcoming week include: an FFA Meeting on March 4, SAT Tests on March 5, and Progress reports posted March 6. Spring Break for RT-C ISD will be March 9-13.

Naturalist Nature Tour 

On Saturday, Feb. 28 at 10 a.m. discover what Winedale was like during the days when it was a part of the Texas frontier. Get a fun, close-up, and hands-on look at its landscape, as Texas Master Naturalists guide you through the human and natural history of Winedale. The Lewis-Wagner House will also then be open for tours. Participants are asked to meet in the events parking lot near the Theater Barn. Round Top Rifle Hall 

Monday, March 2, will be the first “Monday Night Burgers” in March. The Round Top Rifle Association hosts the Monday night social on the first, second, and third Mondays of each month for community fellowship. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with food served from 6-8 p.m.

RT Historical Society 

The Round Top Area Historical Society will be extending their garage sale for an additional weekend on Saturday, March 7 from 9 a.m-5 p.m. and Sun., March 8 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Round Top Area Historical Society pavilion at 397 E. Mill Street in Round Top Do Your Duty Round Top The ladies of DYD Round Top are holding a fundraising raffle. The raffle will have 16 prizes valued at $5,500. Raffle ticket prices are 1 for $20 or 3 for $50. The drawing will be held on April 9 and winners need not be present to win. Tickets are available at the Round Top Mercantile, Round Top State Banks (Giddings and Round Top locations), or from any DYD member.

Round Top American Legion 

The American Legion Quade-Werchan Post No. 338 and Ladies Auxiliary recently participated in the Round Top-Carmine Education Foundation “Small School, Big Hearts” fundraiser event. During the event the post presented a check to the Foundation in the amount of $1,000. In addition to the post’s financial contributions four members of the Legion gave individual donations to the Foundation.

On March 5, the next monthly meeting of the American Legion Quade-Werchan Post #338 will be held at the Round Top American Legion Hall at 1503 N. State Highway 237 in Round Top.

RT-C Athletic Booster Club On Saturday, March 7, the RT-C Athletic Booster Club will be hosting a fundraising event. It will be a full day of fastballs, fun, fellowship, and fried fish. Fun begins at the RT-C Baseball Field at 11 a.m. with alumni batting practice, followed by a home run derby ($5 entry fee) at 12 p.m. The Alumni baseball game begins at 1:30 p.m. R&R snow cones and concessions will be available. The fun continues at the Carmine Hall beginning at 4 p.m. with happy hour and music. Alumni and winner recognition is at 4:45 p.m. A Fish Fry will be served beginning at 5 p.m. and a Cornhole Tournament ($50 per team) begins at 5:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for top cornhole teams. Event tickets are $25 per person for an all-you-caneat fried fish and trimmings meal with two drink tickets, tea, and water. Additional drinks are available for purchase (21-plus). The First Annual Adult Piano Seminar at Festival Hill Round Top will be held March 5-8. The four-day workshop is designed for adult amateur pianists of all levels. All participants are given access to the following: private lessons with esteemed faculty; interactive lectures on piano repertoire, memorization, and practice techniques; access to high-quality facilities and instruments; optional masterclasses; a Feldenkrais session; optional duet coaching; performance opportunities; plenty of practice time; and a solo recital by renowned pianist James Dick. On March 7 at 3 p.m., Founder and Artistic Director, James Dick, will be holding a piano recital featuring the music of Beethoven Lizst. Tickets will be $40 for adults and $15 for students. Shakespeare at Winedale Shakespeare at Winedale tickets for the spring and summer seasons are now on sale. New in 2026: all Spring class performances of “The Winter’s Tale” are free or pay-what-you-can, as are the Summer Sunday evening performances. Summer performances will include Romeo and Juliet, Henry IV Part 1 and Love’s Labor’s Lost. Also available now are Summer VIP passes and See All Three & Save tickets. Bethlehem Lutheran Church Bethlehem Lutheran Church will hold their Sunday worship service with communion on March 1 at 9:30 a.m.

A mid-week Lenten meal will be served on Wed., March 4 at 6 p.m. in the BLC Education Building with a Lenten service following at 7 p.m. in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Rev. John David Nedbalek will be leading both the Sunday service and the Wednesday evening Lenten service. Visitors are always welcome.

Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top collects aluminum tabs from aluminum drink cans tabs as one of their ministries. The tabs are delivered to the Ronald McDonald House in Corpus Christi where the tabs are recycled for cash that is used to help support families while they stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Corpus Christi. The proceeds go directly to support the operating costs of the “home away from home” for families with sick children. The program raises thousands of dollars annually. Bethlehem Lutheran Church would like to ask the Round Top and surrounding communities to consider saving and donating pop tabs for this program. They can be dropped off any time at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Education building on 412 S. White Street in Round Top or contact Sherry Pennington at (512) 626-5754 for pick up.

St. John’s Lutheran Church St. John’s Lutheran Church in Warrenton is part of Shared Lutheran Ministry of Fayette County. St. John’s, Warrenton, will hold their next Sunday morning worship service with Holy Communion on March 1 at 8:30 a.m.

St. Martin’s Catholic Church St. Martin’s next Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 3, at 8 a.m. for the intentions left on the altar. This world’s smallest Catholic Church is open daily for visitors.

St. Paul Lutheran Church St. Paul Lutheran Church in Shelby, led by Pastor John David Nedbalek, holds Sunday morning worship services at 8 a.m. Fellowship, Coffee, and Sunday School follow at 9:30 a.m.
