Gun Report a Case of Mistaken Identity in LG

La Grange Police received a call last week from a man who found a rifle in the grass. It turned out to be an old BB gun.

La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath said a caretaker at the old Stolz Memorial Monument Company was cleaning up the property on Sunday afternoon, April 16, when he found the gun laying in the grass. Gilbreath said the man thought it was a rifle, so he called police.

Police Sgt. Travis Anderson arrived to investigate. Gilbreath said Anderson determined the rusty old gun was a child’s BB gun.

“It must have been laying in the grass for years,” Gilbreath said.

Gilbreath said police took possession of the BB gun.
