Grand Jury Hands Down Indictments

A Fayette County Grand Jury met on Jan. 18 and indicted a La Grange man for sexual assault of a child.

Jackie Glenn Wotipka, 52 of La Grange, stands accused of three counts of sexual assault of a child. According to the indictment, each count involved the same victim. The crimes allegedly took place on Dec. 17, 2014.

Wotipka was also indicted for failure to register as a sex offender stemming from a previous conviction.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt. Rather, it is a formal accusation that a crime has been committed. A grand jury indicts someone when they find enough evidence to warrant a criminal trial.

The grand jury handed down 25 other felony indictments on Jan. 18. Listed below are the defendants and the charges they face:

• Tiffany Sulynne Proske, 42 of La Grange, for unauthorized absence from a community correction facility, allegedly committed on Jan. 16.

• Andrew Ryan Mitchell, 52 of Houston, for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2, less than one gram, allegedly committed on Oct. 15, 2023.

• Billy Dewayne Wallace, 50 of Henderson, for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1/1b, greater than four grams and less than 200 grams, allegedly committed on Oct. 3, 2023.

• Joseph Daniel Wade, 26 of Moulton, for driving while intoxicated with a child under 15, allegedly committed on Dec. 3, 2023.

• Katie Parker, 45 of Cascade, Montana, for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1/1b, less than one gram, allegedly committed on Oct. 8, 2023.

• Mikael Leandre Eans, 22 of La Grange, for aggravated robbery, allegedly committed on Nov. 9, 2023.

• Morris Allen Cooper, 22 of Yoakum, for aggravated robbery, allegedly committed on Nov. 9, 2023.

• Kevin Wade Turman, 34 of Woodville, Mississippi, for assault of a peace officer or judge, allegedly committed on Dec. 11, 2023.

• Brenton Blake Wesley, 32 of Maricopa, Arizona, for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2, greater than four grams and less than 400 grams, allegedly committed on Feb. 10, 2022.

• Isidro Maldonado Martinez, 29 of San Antonio, for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, greater than 400 grams, allegedly committed on Oct. 10, 2023.

• Christian Alvarez, 30 of La Grange, for assault of a peace officer or judge, allegedly committed on Jan. 2.

• Salvador Gamez, 19 of Penitas, for money laundering greater than $150,000 and less than $300,000, allegedly committed on Dec. 19, 2023.

• Everado Luna Guerrero, 34 of Edinburg, for money laundering greater than $150,000 and less than $300,000, allegedly committed on Dec. 19, 2023.

• Efrain Guadelupe Hernandez Laurel, 45 of Monterey, Mexico, for for money laundering greater than $30,000 and less than $150,000, allegedly committed on Dec. 14, 2023.

• Adriana Perez Valencia, 34 of Monterey, Mexico, for for money laundering greater than $30,000 and less than $150,000, allegedly committed on Dec. 14, 2023.

• Saul Nogueda Silva, 21 of Wichita, Kansas, for possession of marijuana in an amount greater than 5 lbs. and less than 50 lbs., allegedly committed on Nov. 29, 2023.

• Carlos Vera-Flores, 43 of Fayetteville, for stalking, allegedly committed on Nov. 30, 2023.

• Tarah Ashley Hamilton, 38 of New Braunfels, for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, greater than one gram and less than four grams, allegedly committed on June 23, 2023.

• Caden Daniel Puckly, 18 of San Marcos, for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2, greater than four grams and less than 400 grams, allegedly committed on Oct. 23, 2023.

• Daniel Ortung, 30 of Houston, for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 2, less than one gram, allegedly committed on June 18, 2023

• Malachi Omega Jones, 25 of La Grange, for two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, allegedly committed on Nov. 22, 2023.

• Eddie Van King, 36 of Weimar, for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, allegedly committed on Nov. 28, 2023. King was also indicted for fraudulent use or possession of identifying information, greater than five items, also allegedly committed on Nov. 28, 2023.

• Daniel Gomez Mendez, 32 of Rockdale, for possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1/1b, in a drug free zone, allegedly committed on Oct. 25, 2023.

• Carl Sidney, 43 of Weimar, for assault of a family or household member with a previous conviction, allegedly committed on Oct. 22, 2023.

All of the parties listed above are innocent unless proven guilty in court.
