Giddings Man Arrested for Dec. 19 Shooting

Charges have been filed against a man involved in the shooting that took place in southern Lee County on Dec 19.

Lee County Sheriff Garrett Durrenberger reports that investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Andrew Galaxy Hu, 31 of Giddings, on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Hu is accused of shooting Jeffery Alan McConnell, 39 of Giddings, at a private residence on County Rd. 217 on Dec. 19. Deputies initially arrested Hu for public intoxication, a class C misdemeanor, as investigators continued to gather the facts of the case. He was released from the Lee County Jail the following day, Dec. 20.

On Dec. 22, Lee County Pct. 2 Justice of the Peace Michael York issued a warrant for Hu’s arrest for the first degree felony offense of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family or household member. Deputies arrested Hu on that charge the following day, Dec. 23.

Durrenberger reports that McConnell continues to recover from his injuries at a medical facility.
