Garden Club Meets Monthly

Garden Club Meets Monthly

The La Grange Garden Club had the pleasure of hearing from Master Gardener Becky McKay, of Giddings Nursery and Garden Center. McKay graciously shared her vast garden knowledge. She explained what the temperature, light exposure and moisture requirements are needed, for holiday plants to thrive. Solutions for big gardening problems were addressed, such as squirrels and deer, as well as tiny ones like fungus and insects. McKay shared tips such as using an inexpensive flannel backed plastic tablecloth as a very effect frost blanket. A bottle of Medina Hasta Gro Plant food was donated by McKay, as a door prize. The La Grange Garden Club meets monthly on the fourth Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl St. Feel free to join in January for a presentation about the various types of trees that are best for the area by David Wills, Horticulturist and Arborist.
