Free April 9 Talk Explores Medicinal Plants for Your Own Backyard
On April 9, the Pioneer Unit of the Herb Society of America invites everyone to join them at the Brenham Presbyterian Church to hear Mark Vorderbruggen of Merriwether Foraging Texas. Mark’s talk, “Your Yard Pharmacy: Medicinal Landscaping Plants,” is free and open to the public. The talk begins at 10 a.m., but everyone is invited to come early for a cup of coffee or tea. Do Your Duty Round Top On April 9, the DYD Round Top will be drawing the winning tickets for their fundraising raffle. To purchase tickets, stop by the Round Top Mercantile, Round Top State Bank (La Grange, Giddings and Round Top branches), or purchase them from any DYD member. The raffle will have 16 prizes valued at $5,500. Raffle ticket prices are 1 for $20 or 3 for $50.
Round Top Family Library On April 11 from 11 a.m.3 p.m., a Classic Car Show will be held at Busted Oaks Cellar. All proceeds will benefit RTFL.
Thursday, April 16, is when Open Mic Poetry Night will be held. It will begin at 7 p.m. with a reception to follow. The event is open for poets of all ages, and each person may read their own poem. Content must be suitable for young ears.
The Bluebonnet Mahjong Society meets at the historic Rummel Haus at Round Top Family Library every Thursday from 12:30-3:30 p.m. for open play. Private mahjong lessons are available by contacting the library at (979) 249-2700.
Round Top Family Library offers yoga on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at the library. All class times can be found on the calendar at www.ilovetoread.org.
Don’t forget to join the Acoustic Jam Session on Saturday, April 18 starting at 11:30 a.m. All details can be found on the RTFL website.
Round Top Family Library is honoring the amazing volunteers that help make all programs and events a reality. A reception to honor volunteers is scheduled for Friday, April 24, from 4-6 p.m. under the live oak trees at the beautiful library campus. Everyone is welcome.
RT-C ISD
On April 6, there will be a District Tennis Meet in La Grange. April 6 is also a school holiday.
On April 7, there will be high school baseball in Carmine against BVCHEA Homeschool (Brazos Valley Christian Home Educators Assoc.) beginning at 5:30 p.m. This will also be “Turtle Wing Night.”
On April 9, there will be a District Track Meet in Fayetteville for both Junior high and High school.
April 10 is an early release school day with buses running at 12:30 p.m.
The RT-C baseball team will travel to Little River Academy High School to play Blum at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11.
The Regional Golf Tournament will be held on April 13 and 14.
RT-C hosts Snook at 5 p.m. for a double-header on April 15.
Kaegen Wagner was chosen as Miss RT-C Prom Queen and Carter Marburger was crowned Mr. RT-C Prom King at the “Tropical Paradise” RT-C 2026 prom.
Hermann Sons Life
The Round Top-Shelby Hermann Sons Life monthly meeting took place on Tuesday, March 24, at the American Legion Hall near Round Top. President Lila Garlin convened the meeting at 6:30 p.m., beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Linda Mattocks presented her report about the new three- and five-year annuities, gift opportunities, the newborn juvenile policy, and the upcoming summer camp. Community coordinator, Melanie Rauch, stated that she will be sending out Easter cards. A moment of silence was held in memory of Tamara Leigh Meinschen, who passed away on Feb. 20. The Join Hands Day project was discussed. Lila will inquire as to whether the Shelby Volunteer Fire Department would like the country store at their celebration as a fund raiser.
Happy birthday was sung to Linda Mattocks and Ray Ullrich for their March birthdays. Sincere gratitude was extended to Carmen and Valgene Ebner, as well as Lila Garlin, for their generous contribution of door prizes.
The new serving committee for the next three months will be Lila and Barton Garlin, Pearlie and Wayne Wagner, Roy and Judy Pieper, La Verne Albers, Sedalia Ullrich and Margie Stardig. A big thank you to Linda Mattocks and Earl Fenske, Carolyn and Warren Meinschen, Jo Ann and Ray Ullrich, and Virgie Hall for their service for Jan, Feb. and March. Lunch and fellowship followed the close of the meeting.
Legion, Auxiliary Post #338 On April 9, the monthly meeting of the American Legion will take place at 1503 N. St. Hwy. 237 in Round Top beginning at 6:30 p.m. Members and guests are encouraged to arrive at 6 p.m. for a time of fellowship. Beverages and light snacks will be served.
Auxiliary members are reminded to submit their Member Year-End Impact Numbers Report and to bring items for the Active Service Members Care Packages to the April 9 meeting. The Auxiliary is requesting information of any current service members from the Round Top-Carmine area be identified. Please provide their name and mailing address to Carobeth Fuchs Bockhorn, 575 West Fuchs Road, Carmine, TX 78932 to ensure a care package can be sent to them.
Round Top Festival Hill
On April 11, the Round Top Festival Hill Gala, Harmony Under a Texas Star, will take place from 5:30-10 p.m. at the historic Round Top Rifle Hall. RT-C Education Foundation On April 16, the quarterly meeting of the Board of the RT-C Education Foundation will be held at 8 a.m. at the Round Top Elementary School.
Town of Round Top
On April 18 at 2 p.m., the public is invited to attend the Candidate Forum for the upcoming Town of Round Top Alderman election. Three candidates are running for two vacant aldermen positions. The three candidates are David Barr, Brooke Michie, Lou Ann Phillips. The forum will be held at the Round Top Christian Church, 440 E. Mill St. in Round Top. The alderman candidates will have an opportunity to state their platform and to answer questions by citizens of Round Top.
C.A.S.T. for Kids
On May 9, the “C.A.S.T. for Kids” event will be held at Camp Journey in Bellville, Texas from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. This is a free fishing event for children and adults with special needs. The event is open to all children and adults, ages 6 and up, no matter their disability. To pre-register online, go to https://castforkids.org/event/ campjourney/.

On May 16, the Round Top Rifle Association Hall will be the venue for The Vanity Fur “Mutt Gala” & Fashion Extravaganza from 6-10 p.m. This event will benefit the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter. For more info, go to https://ams.s3onegoal.com/ online/766/home.
Bethlehem Lutheran Church On April 5, Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top will be holding a special Easter Sunday Sunrise worship service with communion at 7 a.m. outside under the big oak trees on the church grounds. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held indoors in the Education Building. Pastor John David Nedbalek will be officiating. A light brunch and Easter Egg Hunt will follow the Easter Sunrise worship service.
BLC will have several representatives at the Women of ELCA Western Cluster Spring Gathering on Sat., April 18, at St. Paul Luther Church in Columbus. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with brunch, and the program begins at 9 a.m. Dr. Maxie Leftwich, LCSW Emeritus, President of The Wellness Council of Greater Colorado Valley, will be the speaker for the event. On May 3, Bethlehem Lutheran Church will be holding their annual fundraiser at the Round Top Rifle Association Hall. At 10 a.m., there will be a lively polka and praise service, and from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., a fried chicken meal will be served. Tickets are $18 per plate. The church is also holding a raffle with 36 prizes. The drawing will be held on May 3 at the annual chicken fry. Raffle ticket prices are $20 each or 3 for $50. Raffle and/or meal tickets can be purchased at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church office, Round Top State Bank, Round Top Mercantile, or from any BLC church member.
St. Cecilia’s Episcopal
St. Cecilia’s in Round Top will be offering two services on the morning of Easter Sunday, April 5. The services will be offered at 8:45 a.m. and 10:45 a.m., both held at The Compound, 2550 Hwy. 237, near Round Top. Father Bill Miller will deliver an inspirational message and extraordinary guest musicians will be featured. The services are free and open to the public, and there is ample parking. St. John Lutheran Church St. John Lutheran Church in Warrenton will be celebrating Easter Sunday, April 5, with an 8:30 a.m. worship service in Warrenton followed by an Easter Egg Hunt. Visitors are always welcome.
St. Paul Lutheran Church Easter service will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Shelby on April 5 at 8:30 a.m. with worship and communion. Fellowship, coffee, and Sunday School will follow at 9:30 a.m.
