Farm Bureau
From July 15-17, 1868, in the small town of Millican, up to 300 Black Americans were driven away or killed in what some scholars consider the worst incident of racial violence in Texas during Reconstruction. Please Join Winedale for an in-person discussion with historian and author Thomas Stevens on Tuesday, March 21 at noon. Winedale will also be collecting non-perishable food items for the AMEN Food Pantry.
The Swiss Alp-Ammannsville- Dubina Farm Bureau local will hold their meeting March 21 at the Swiss Alp Farm Bureau hall. The social starts at 6 p.m. followed by a pot-luck supper. There will be a business meeting after the supper with a guest speaker, Wendy McDaniels, Fayette County Farm Bureau board president. Members are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert.
LG Garden Club
The La Grange Garden Club will meet at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 23 at the Randolph Recreation Center located at 653 East Pearl St. for its regular monthly meeting. The program will feature a presentation by Poehbe Lake on growing and the uses of herbs. Information will also be presented on the upcoming annual plant and caladium bulb sale scheduled for April 13 and 14. All members are encouraged to attend and guests are always welcome. There’s more The La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual barbecue chicken dinner on Thursday, March 23 from 4:30 until 6.30 p.m. at the KC Hall located at 190 S. YoungLife Fun Shoot
La Grange YoungLife is hosting a four-person Fun Shoot at the Fayette County Gun Club on Saturday, March 25 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $500 per team. The shoot will include skeet, trap and 5-stand. A hamburger lunch will be available for a free will contribution. Call (760) 780-5120 to register and support this youth ministry.

BBQ Pork Fundraiser
The Warda Bunch Show Fund will have a barbecue pork fundraiser on Saturday, April 1. Barbecue pork butts will be available in 2.5-4 lb. pieces for $10.50/lb. Orders will be taken for the number of pieces you would like (not by the pound). Pick up at the Holy Cross picnic grounds in Warda from 4-6 p.m. Preorders only by calling the Holy Cross church office at (979) 2423333 by Thursday, March 23.
Texas German Society
The Fayette County Chapter of the Texas German Society will meet on Monday, March 27 at 5 pm. at the Randolph Rec Center. Guest speaker, Charles Hebert, will present information from his book concerning the Kreische family of La Grange. Visitors are always welcome to attend.
