Legion, Auxiliary

The Central Texas Food Truck will be at the St. John Pavilion on Wednesday, March 8. This is a walk up distribution with volunteers to help with pick up and delivery to vehicles. Bring large bags or containers.

The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 8 at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive, Fair Grounds Road in La Grange. The American Legion is a Veterans Service Organization and had their first American Legion caucus held by members of the American Expeditionary Forces, which convened in Paris, France on March 15, 1919. This March marks their 104th Birthday. Items on the agenda include an update on the Boys’ State and the Girls’ State sessions this summer, and the Auxiliary Scholarship. Members are encouraged to attend as well as new potential members are always welcome. A meal and birthday cake will be served following the meeting.

Meal Cancelled

Due to low participation, Fayette County Farm Bureau has decided to postpone their drive thru dinner on March 9. There will be no dinner hosted by Farm Bureau. If you have purchased tickets please bring your tickets to the Farm Bureau office for a refund.

German Program

La Grange High School German Students competed in their State competition last week and are having a town performance to showcase their talents Wednesday, March 8 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the La Grange HS cafeteria. Folk Dance will perform around 5:45 p.m. and Polka Band will perform around 6:15 p.m. Projects and information about the German program will be on display and the public is welcome.

There’s more Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.

Widowed Spouses Support Group

Hospice Brazos Valley will host a Grief Support Group on the third Tuesday of each month from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for anyone who is grieving the loss of a spouse. For more information and location of the group meeting, contact Cindy Fanning at (979) 968-6913.

Feed The Need

Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.

Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support

Marine Corps League Meeting

Loss of a Child Support Group

A support and educational group for parents or grandparents who are grieving the loss of a child at any age or any stage of the grieving process with be held on the fourthTuesday of each month from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. For more information and location of support group, contact Cindy Fanning at (979) 968-6913.

Beyond Grief Series

Parkinson’s Support Group

The Fayette County Parkinson’s Support Group will hold their March meeting on the third Thursday of the month, March 16, at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl St. in La Grange in a designated room between the gym and the street. There is adequate handicapped parking adjacent to the building, complete with a ramp for anyone who cannot manage the steps. This group is open to anyone who has an interest in finding out more information about Parkinson’s Disease. It is not necessary for you to be a resident of Fayette County; this affliction attacks in the same manner regardless of where you live. St. James BBQ & Bake Sale

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the Women will hold a bake sale on Saturday, March 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $5 and sausage link is $7. The meal is drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of St. Mark’s Auxiliary.

Osage Community Cemetery

The annual meeting of Osage Community Cemetery, Inc. will be held at the cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, with a potluck lunch to follow. Bring a dish to share with the group. Plates, napkins, flatware and water will be provided for the lunch. Important decisions will be made about the tree limb situation causing maintenance problems. Everyone with family ties to the cemetery, located at the intersection of CR 208 and CR 205 northeast of Weimar, is encouraged to attend. For more information, email roxannjohnson@me.com.

Rosary Crusade in Fayetteville

St. Anne Society No.10 KJZT of Fayetteville is sponsoring the 2023 Public Square Rosary Crusade in the support of traditional marriage. Eveyone is invited to join in prayer for our nation at noon on Saturday, March 11 at the gazebo on the Fayetteville square.You are welcome to bring lawn chairs. Bingo in Ledbetter

Bingo for Seniors (60 and older plus guests) will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center on Sunday, March 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. Cost is $5 per card and covers all games with prizes awarded for each game.
