Food Bank Truck
The Fayette County Habitat for Humanity Christmas Coloring Contest is now open. Nopurchaseorpaymentofany kind is necessary to enter or win this contest. The contest is open to children in grades 1-6. Each entry consists of a completed, official coloring page. Coloring pages can be downloaded at www.FayetteCountyHabitat. org/2023contest.
One entry per person. Entries can be scanned and submitted via email to: info@Fayette-CountyHabitat.org.
Entries can also be mailed to P.O. Box 1127, La Grange, TX 78945. All of the entries will be separated into the following six (6) brackets: 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grade. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, and whimsy. There will be six grand prizes. Entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Oct. 27.
The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at St. John in Fayetteville on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 10 to 11 a.m. This is a walk up distribution. Volunteers will be there to help. You may bring bags or containers for pick up.
There’s more Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870 will meet on the third Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall located in Ammannsville. Food and refreshments will be available after the meeting. Members and prospective members are encouraged to attend.
Marine Corps League Meeting
Marine Corps League Detachment 1028 will meet for their regular monthly meeting the fourth Tuesday of the month at the La Grange VFW Hall at 7 p.m. Contact Bobby Bedient at bobbymcl1028@ gmail.com for more information.
Weimar Farmers Market
The Weimar Farmers Market, located in the green building at 201 W. Main, showcases local farmers every second Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. There is no fee to participate but vendors must register in advance by emailing info@weimarchamber.com.
Legion, Auxiliary No. 102 Meeting
The American Legion Post No. 102 and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. The Auxiliary District President, Irene Szwarc, will be in attendance. Members are encouraged to attend the meetings for both the Post and the Unit to discuss their routine business matters. New potential members are welcome to attend. A meal will be served following the meeting.
Sages & Saints Fellowship
Sages and Saints is hosting the Fabulous 50s on Thursday, Oct. 12, at New Life Methodist Church Fellowship Hall located at 1215 N. Von Minden from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Enjoy chili dogs and floats or bring a dessert if you wish. Dress in your best 50s and play trivia games of the 50s.
Craft Time at the Library
Crafternoon is back for ages 18 and up at the Fayette Public Library, Thursday, Oct. 12, from 5-6 p.m. for a DIY Scented Broom craft. Get your home ready for the holidays with a beautifully decorated scented broom. Coffee, tea, and light snacks will be available. This program is free; all craft materials, including the broom, are provided. This Crafternoon is a registered program with six spots available, so reserve your’s today. Museum Exhibit
Contraptions and Innovations, the current exhibit on early Fayette County patents at the Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives will end on Friday, Oct. 13. Visitors are welcome upstairs above the public library at 855 S. Jefferson Street in La Grange from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
St. James BBQ & Bake Sale
The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue and the women will hold a bake sale on Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-E-B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7, drive through only. Meal benefits Arts for Rural Texas.
Fatima Rosary Rally
Hostyn Catholic Daughters No. 2282 will sponsor a Fatima Rosary Rally on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the gazebo in La Grange at 12 p.m. All are invited to pray the Rosary for world peace, all unborn babies, and for rain.
Juneteenth Committee Bake Sale The La Grange Juneteenth Committee will be holding a bake sale on Saturday, Oct. 14, beginning at 8 a.m. at Fayette MedicalSupply, 362 E. Travis St. (next to H-E-B).
America Needs Fatima Rosary Crusade APublic Square Rosary will held on Saturday, Oct. 14 at noon on the lawn of the Fayetteville Courthouse. This event marks the 106th anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima where Our Lady appeared to the three children. This public event is one of 22,000 held all over the world to publicly pray the rosary and other prayers. Everyone is invited to attend.
Harvest Festival
Martin Luther Lutheran Church will have fellowship, food and fun Sunday, Oct. 15 at Carmine Hall. Worship begins at 9:30 a.m. with country and western style Worship songs. Meal will begin at 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Meal tickets are $15 and will be barbecue pork ribeye with side dishes. Take part in the raffle, tickets are $20 each or 3 for $50. Bingo for Seniors
The Ledbetter Community Center has bingo for seniors 60 and older, plus guests, on Sunday, Oct. 15, from 2-4 p.m. $5 card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game.
