Hospice Brazos Valley is offering an Anticipatory Grief group. This is a monthly support group for caregivers of loved ones who have a terminal or chronic diagnosis. The group will meet on the third Wednesday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Hospice Brazos Valley office, 1048 N. Jefferson, La Grange. Beyond Beer: Beverages of the Bluff
Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites will host a special program about historical beverages on Saturday, Aug. 26, from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. Attendees can learn about and sample a variety of non-alcoholic beverages that were popular among 19th century German-Texan families, particularly at community gatherings on the Bluff. The program will also serve as a volunteer informational meeting where community members can hear about new volunteer opportunities. A Special Concert at St. James
St. James’ beautiful “new” Steinway piano’s debut will be celebrated in a special concert for the entire community. The music will showcase the Steinway’s spectacular sound. Selections include classical (Debussy) jazz, ragtime and show tunes. The featured soloist will be La Grange’s Mary Ann Hatfield. The concert will be held Sunday, Aug. 27, at 3 p.m. at St. James Episcopal Church across the street from H-E-B. Mark your calendar for this one-hour performance. Dress is casual and jeans are fine. Reception to follow. A free will donation is appreciated.
Round Top Hermann Sons
Round Top Lodge 151 will meet Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Round Top American Legion Hall. Social time is at 6 p.m. and meeting at 6:30 p.m. Bring sandwiches, chips, desserts, etc. for the meal following the meeting.

Kolkhorst Announces Mobile Office Hours The office of Senator Lois W. Kolkhorst (R-Brenham) is holding mobile satellite office hours in Fayette County on Friday, Sept. 1. Astaff member for Senator Kolkhorst will be available to meet with constituents from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Commissioner’s Courtroom on the third floor of the county courthouse, located at 151 N. Washington in La Grange. No appointment is necessary. This will be an opportunity for Fayette County residents to meet with a member of Senator Kolkhorst’s staff to share comments, ideas, or discuss other matters of importance. Church Car Wash & Bake Sale
St. James Missionary Baptist Church will hold a car wash with hot dogs and a bake sale fundraiser will be held Saturday, Sept. 2, under the pavilion from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. A car wash is $5 and a truck wash is $10. Hot dogs, chips, and a soda are $5 and a water is $1. Cake or pie per the slice is $2. Donations are welcome and the first 20 cars will receive a book bag.
Fayetteville’s Annual Church Feast The Fayetteville St. John The Baptist Catholic Church will hold their annual picnic on Sunday, Sept. 3, at St. John’s Recreation Hall in Fayetteville. A Mass with Polka Music will be held at 10 a.m. with local musicians taking part in the Mass. There will be a barbecue pork and sausage dinner served at 10:30 a.m. Plates to go at the hall and a drive-thru line will also be available at 10:30 a.m. Area musicians will provide live music starting at 11 a.m under the pavilion. Barbecue and sausage burgers will be sold beginning at 1:30 p.m. A country auction including quilts, antiques, coins, etc. will be held at 1:30 p.m. There will be bingo at 2 p.m. in the air conditioned hall and kolaches and other pastries will be available throughout the day. Some attractions include country store, plant wheel, children’s games, silent auction, cake wheel, and ice cold refreshments.
Holy Cross Annual Picnic
Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Warda will hold their annual picnic on Sunday, Sept. 3, on their shady grounds in Warda. Barbecue brisket, pork, and chickens by the pound with containers of sides starting at 9:30 a.m. Activities throughout the day for kids and adults with plenty of cold beverages, ice cream and snow cones to stay cool. Hamburgers, nachos, and French fries available starting at 4 p.m. with a live auction at 5:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy the day.
Fayetteville Schools Reunion
The annual Fayetteville schools reunion for graduates of Fayetteville High School and St. John’s School will be held on Saturday, Sept. 16, at Joe’s Place on the Fayetteville town square. Optionally, the Fayetteville school “Red Building” and gym will be open for viewing from 2:30-3:45 p.m. (meet at the school). Reunion begins at 4 p.m. with a social, meeting, dinner and music by DJ Aaron. A meal of chicken fried steak/grilled chicken breast, potatoes, green beans, salad and dessert will be served. The cost of the meal is $13 per plate with advance payment required by Sept. 6 to be guaranteed a meal. Mail checks to Larry Malota at 9077 Lightsey Ln., College Station, TX 77845. The bar will be open to purchase drinks. In addition, Arts for Rural Texas (ARTS) will host a complimentary coffee and dessert bar at the ARTS Ross Gallery on the Fayetteville square for all of the Fayetteville class reunion guests on Saturday, Sept. 16, from 5-9 p.m. Any guest who would like to make a donation to ARTS of $10 or more will receive a complimentary commemorative coffee mug featuring the Fayetteville Water Tower by Fayetteville ISD Alum, Allyson Hoffmann, class of 2018 (while supplies last).
