Back 2 School

The Living Vine Christian Church is hosting a garage sale Saturday, Aug. 5 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. at 124 S. Water St. behind Reeder’s A/C. All proceeds go to help with medical expenses for Visar Halilaj, the owner of Ere’s Italian Restaurant in La Grange. Halilaj was in a motorcycle accident on June 29 and is still in the hospital. Come shop in an air conditioned building and help this family. Several families are selling an assortment of items.

Tejas Health Care and the La Grange Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their annual Back 2 School Festival Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. for Pre-K through 8th grades at the Tejas Health Care administration building, 753 E. Travis St. in La Grange. Stop by for a free backpack, school supplies, snow cones, hot dogs, and popcorn.

All Sports Pass

All Sports Senior Citizen Pass available starting Aug. 8, at the La Grange ISD Administration Building, 540 N. Monroe, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Passes are $30 each and Varsity Football is included. Purchase must be made in person with a valid ID. General admission seating only. Valid only at La Grange ISD facilities. American Legion Post, Auxiliary No. 102

TheAmerican Legion Post No. 102 and theAmerican Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. Members are encouraged to attend to discuss regular business matters. New potential members are invited to attend as well. A light meal will be served following the meeting.

Food Truck in Fayetteville

The Central Texas Food Bank truck will be at St. John in Fayetteville on Wednesday, Aug. 9, from 10 to 11 a.m. as a walk up distribution. Volunteers will help if needed.

Wild West Casino Night

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce will host Wild West Casino Night on Saturday, Aug. 12 beginning at 6 p.m. A famous chicken fried steak meal will be served. Fun games for prizes include Black Jack tables, money wheel, craps table, and Texas Hold ‘Em tables. Also available will be dart poker, heads or tails, dessert game, 50/50. Entertainment will be provided throughout the night by three famous wild west characters, Allison Crowson, Rick Weiss, and Ken Brothers. A table for eight includes promotion at the event, 8 meals, wine, beverages and some playing chips. Individual tickets are $50. Call or text (979) 451-1507.

Isaac Hill Cemetery Assoc. Meeting The annual meeting of the Isaac Hill Cemetery Association will be Aug. 13. Winchester to Hold Farmer’s Market Zilss Hall, located at the corner of Memorial Hall Rd. and FM 153 in Winchester, will be the site of the monthly Winchester Farmer’s Market this Saturday beginning at 8:30 a.m. Vendors will be selling crafts, homemade food items, plants, eggs, and locally grown produce until noon. La Grange Noon Lions Club

The La Grange Noon Lions Club meets on Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. at Frisch Auf! Valley Country Club in La Grange. Fayette County Fair Parade

The Fayette County Fair Parade will be held Saturday, Sept. 2, in downtown La Grange. To enter, call or text Gloria Heinrich at (979) 966-8500 or email fayettecountyfairparade@gmail. com, by Aug. 30. Registration is also available on the website at www.fayettecountyfair.org. The parade route will begin at Jackson and Colorado and go West on Colorado St. across Hwy. 77 N at the red light and continue down Colorado Street where it will disband at the city swimming pool. The high school band and the presentation of plaques for the Volunteer of the Year and Parade Marshall will be at City Hall at 9:30 a.m. National Anthem is at 10 a.m. and the parade starts immediately following. You can register the morning of the parade at City Hall, 155 E. Colorado, beginning at 7 a.m. but to be judged you must be registered and in line by 9 a.m.

Women’s Bible Study

Woven Ministry is a non-profit for the women of the community. Join in their 10-week Bible study on the book of James. The Tuesday evening group meets from 6:45-8:15 p.m. and Wednesday morning group from 8:30-10:30 a.m. starting the week of Labor Day at Crosspoint Community Church located at 1010 N. Back to School Supplies

Chloe’s Closet Back to School Supplies sponsored by New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church will take place at The Hall located at 751 Pearl Street on Aug. 12. at 10 a.m. Snacks, supplies and fun are free while supplies last. A garage sale starts at 8:30 a.m. and will have new and used items. The donations will be used to purchase incidentals that youth are in need of to start a new school year.
