The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club (the Holy Smokers) will hold a barbecue Saturday, July 8 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out, at 156 N. Monroe St. across from HE- B. A half chicken is $6 and sausage link is $7. The meal is drive-thru only. This barbecue is for the benefit of the Children’s Advocacy Center.
Come view the work of America’s foremost nature print artist, Dinah Bowman. Her exhibition will be on display through July 8 at ARTS Gorman Gallery, 1201 Kessler Ave. in Schulenburg.

There’s more Bingo for Seniors (60 and older plus guests) will be held at the Ledbetter Community Center on Sunday, July 9 from 2-4 p.m. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. $5 per card covers all games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips/snacks and drinks will be available for freewill donation.
Country Music Night
The Lee County Senior Center will be hosting Country Music Night featuring local musicians John and Seth Kalbas on Monday, July 10. Show will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. with doors opening at 5 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The center is located at 165 West Austin Street in Giddings.

American Legion Post/Auxiliary #102
TheAmerican Legion Post No. 102 and theAmerican Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 102 will meet for their regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, July 12, at 6 p.m. at the VFW Home located at Veterans Memorial Drive at the Fair Grounds in La Grange. The Girls’State delegate and the Boys’State delegates have been invited to attend and give a brief report of their experience at their respective sessions held in June, prior to the meeting. Members are encouraged to attend to discuss regular business matters. New potential members are invited to attend. A light meal will be served prior to the business meeting.
Schulenburg Chamber Wine-O Bingo The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce will host Wine-O Bingo on Saturday, July 15 at Svetlik Farm, 2616 FM 2672 in Schulenburg. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. Individual tickets are $25 and a reserved table for 8 is $175. Only 250 tickets will be sold. Enjoy 20 games (or more), plus a blackout (big prize for this one). Prizes include wine, liquor, unique beers and lots of door prizes. BYOB, coolers and snacks are welcome. Join the table decorating contest. Decorating begins at 4:30 p.m. You must be 21 years of age or older to play. Tickets are available by calling the chamber office at (979) 743-4514.
Romeo and Juliet by Camp Shakespeare ‘Rome and Juliet’ by William Shakespeare will be presented by Camp Shakespeare at Winedale on Saturday, July 15 at 3 p.m. at La Grange ISD Performing Arts Center. Tickets are $10. Children 12 and under are free. For ticket reservations, contact Robin Grace Soto ( robingracesoto@utexas.edu). Reservations for the performances are recommended but not required. Tickets can be paid for at the door using cash, check or card.

La Grange ISD varsity football reserved season ticket holders from the 2022 season may purchase reserved tickets at the La Grange ISD Administration Building, 560 N. Monroe in La Grange, beginning July 24 through July 27, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The office is closed Fridays. The cost of each reserved season ticket is $50 for five home games. Current reserved season tickets not claimed during this time will go on sale to the public on July 29. La Grange Farm Bureau Meeting
The La Grange Farm Bureau is having their annual dinner and meeting on Tuesday, July 18 at the Fayette County Fairgrounds EH kitchen. Social begins at 6 p.m. meal to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Fayette County Farm Bureau office.
Wilson & Fischer’s “The Shape of Things” Enjoy the creative voices of Debbie Little Wilson and Mary Fischer. Their exhibition runs through July 29 at the ARTS Ross Gallery, 114 North Live Oak Street in Fayetteville.
Annual Camp Lone Star Barbecue Rev. John Karle, Lead Missionary and Campus Pastor at University Lutheran Chapel in College Station, will be the featured speaker at the Annual BBQ Worship Service at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 30 at Camp Lone Star. All from the area are invited. The day starts off at 9:45 a.m. with a special dedication and ribbon cutting for the camp’s newest ministry space, the Base Camp Dining Hall. Then, pre-service music by the Summer Staff begins at 10:45 a.m. under the canopy of trees near the lake (A/C live-streamed service is available in the Koop Center). Following the service will be the traditional barbecue luncheon with noodles and all the trimmings. Drive-thru barbecue plates can also be purchased for $15 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Live and silent benefit auctions follow from 1-3 p.m. indoors at the Koop Center. The BBQ and auction is one of the main events which supports Camp Lone Star each year. Last year, more than $100,000 was raised thanks to dedicated friends and the local community. The goal this year is to raise $105,000 which will allow Camp to continue fulfilling a mission of transforming lives through adventurous Christ-centered experiences.
Country Festival in Frelsburg
The parishioners of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Frelsburg invites the community to its Country Festival on Sunday, Aug. 6 on the church grounds, 1031 Church Lane. The day will begin with Holy Mass at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Traditional Latin Mass at 10:30 a.m. Frelsburg’s famous fried fish meal of fried fish, buttered potatoes, hush puppies, coleslaw, pinto beans, bread, pickles, and tea will be available by dine-in or drive thru. Dine in will begin at 11 a.m. Meal tickets will be $15 and kids 12 and under $10. There will be plates to go starting at 10:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. for $15. The country live auction begins at 1 p.m. The day’s events will also feature a cake walk, country store, religious articles, kids’ games, and bingo in the air conditioned dining hall starting at 1 p.m. The day concludes with a free dance featuring The Blue Denim Band after the Auction. Chess Club Meets on Monday
The Monday nights Chess Club meets at the Randolph Recreation Center, Building C, located at 653 E. Pearl St., on Mondays from 5:15-6:15 p.m. Club participation is free and open to ages 6 to adult.
