Saint Michael’s Picnic
A free sewing workshop class will be held on June 17 for ages 10 to 18 with instructor Cathy Gau. Class size is limited to ten. Students will learn to make a pillow case that they will take home. The library will provide pillowcase kits and sewing machines. A parent or guardian must be present with kids age 10-12. Saint Michael’s annual picnic will be held on Saturday, June 17 in historic downtown Winchester. A pork or chicken barbecue meal with barbecue sauce, potato salad, noodles, beans, bread, iced tea and dessert will be served by the plate for $15 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. To-go plates will be available. Washer tournament registration will be held at 3 p.m. and begins at 4 p.m. The live auction begins at 6 p.m. Bounce house and face painting for the kids will be from 3-5 p.m. Remaining barbecue will be sold by the pound beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Food Bank Truck
Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction of FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, June 17 from 10 until 11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk-up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk-thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. Wagons will be furnished by CTFB.
Muldoon VFD Open House
Join the Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department at 333 N. 3rd St. in Muldoon for a open house on Saturday, June 17 from 9 a.m. to noon. See how fire trucks work, watch fire equipment demonstrations, and learn about different kinds of fire trucks. Fun hand outs and activities for kids. Free snacks and water will be available. Purchase gun raffle tickets benefitting the Muldoon Park and join the Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.
Kids Kamp
The Bluebonnet Master Gardener Association Kids Kamp will be held June 20-22 at the Fayette County Agrilife Extension building located at 255 Svoboda Lane. Kamp is open to kids ages 10-13. Kamp will be held from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. Cost is $30 a child. Topics include butterflies, plant extinction, Venus flytaps, plant survival, and take home activities. Farm Bureau Potluck Dinner
Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau potluck dinner and 2023 quarterly meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 20 at the American Legion Hall in Flatonia. Social hour will start at 6 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Muldoon Fire Chief Stephen Kelley. A short business meeting will follow the potluck meal. Members are asked to bring a dish.
Sports Camp For Kids

Muldoon Independence Day Celebration Muldoon will host a Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, July 1 with a parade, auction and lunch. Parade line up by the Muldoon Baptist Church begins at 8:30 a.m. with the parade starting at 9:30 a.m. The live and silent auction will begin at 10:30 a.m. A lunch of hot dogs will be served after the auction. Bring a side dish and dessert. Bottle water will be provided. A gun raffle drawing will be held at 2 p.m. Auction donations are needed. Bring auction perishables on the day of the event. Feed The Need
Feed the Need, a non-profit organization whose mission is to feed people physically and spiritually, will provide free burgers every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in La Grange at the south east corner of the courthouse square. Everyone is welcome.
