Celebration
The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction of FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 until 11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk-thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. A few wagons will be furnished by CTFB, but if the client has their own wagon, please bring it.
Celebrate Black History Month with a community celebration and church service on Feb. 18 and Feb. 19 in Schulenburg. A parade kicks off at 10 a.m. Enjoy food, music and fun and a Black History Program. Contact Greg Thomas for more information at (979) 505-0282.
Cemetery Assoc.
The Prairie Valley Cemetery Association will have their annual membership meeting on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. at the St. Peter Lutheran Church Parish Hall. All owners of lots are encouraged to attend this annual meeting.
LES Book Fair
It’s time for the La Grange Elementary Library Book Fair. Grown-ups are welcome to come and shop after school from 4-5:40 p.m. Feb. 22-28. Monetary donations are accepted to purchase books for the library and book vending machine online at https:// tinyurl.com/mry35vs8, or donations can be dropped off in person at the school office from 8 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

For the Record on Page A2 & A3 The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 16 at the La Grange City Hall, 155 E. Colorado in La Grange. The speaker will be a representative from Patriot Paws Service Dogs. Their mission statement: “The mission of Patriot Paws Service Dogs is to train and provide service dogs of the highest quality at no cost to disabled American veterans and others with mobile disabilities in order to help restore their physical and emotional independence. Patriot PAWS Service Dogs intends to build partnerships with state and community organizations to help develop and support this goal.” They will bring some “in-training” dogs with them. Guests are always welcome but we especially want to encourage young people to attend who may want to get involved in the program. Parkinson’s Support Group
The regularly scheduled meeting of the Fayette Area Parkinson’s Support Group will be held on Feb. 16 the third Thursday of the month, at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl in La Grange, in the meeting room immediately next to the gym. There is space for parking with a ramp for anyone who cannot handle steps. Dismissal is promptly at 11 a.m. This month, the group will be using short videos of new resources being developed in research labs and pharma companies. Some guests and returning members will have much information to share with the group. This type of open sharing is the basis of the meetings. Attendance is open to anyone: newly diagnosed patients, caregivers, relatives, those who are curious about this disabling illness which is gathering much publicity due to famous people who are not immune to its effects. Texas A&M Scholarship Applications
Seniors of Fayette County high schools (and past graduates of the county’s schools who are currently enrolled in a junior college or other institution of higher learning) planning to attend Texas A&M University are strongly encouraged to apply for the Fayette County Texas A&M Scholarship. Applications may be turned in to your current or past high school counselor or principal or delivered to the Fayette County A&M Club, P.O. Box 1044, La Grange, TX 78945. Applications must be received or postmarked by March 1.
AMEN Pantry Hours
The AMEN Pantry will be closed Monday, Feb. 20 in observance of President’s Day and will open on Tuesday, Feb. 21 for normal distribution hours from 9 a.m. until noon.
Garbage Holiday Schedule La Grange City offices will be closed Monday, Feb. 20 in observance of Presidents’Day. Waste Management will be working their normal garbage schedule. If you need additional information, call (979) 968-3127.

VFW Post No. 5254 & Auxiliary
A light meal and meetings will be held by the La Grange Fayette Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 5254 and Auxiliary on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at the VFW Home at the Fairgrounds in La Grange. Meeting time for the VFW Auxiliary is 5 p.m. A joint VFW and Auxiliary light meal will be served at 6 p.m. followed by the VFW Post meeting. New potential members are invited to attend.

Round Top Hermann Sons Life Round Top Hermann Sons Life will meet Thursday, Feb. 23 at the Round Top American Legion Hall. Happy hour at 6 p.m. and meeting at 6:30 p.m. Special guest speaker will be Ian Brassett, Executive Director of the HSL camp in Comfort. This is an open meeting for anyone interested in the HSL camp program for children ages 9 through 13, or becoming a member of Hermann Sons Life. Hot dogs will be served after the meeting and members are asked to bring sides or desserts.
