BBQ Brisket

The St. James Episcopal Men’s Club will hold a barbecue and the Women will hold a bake sale on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until sold out at 156 N. Monroe St. across from H-EB. A half chicken is $5 and a sausage link $7, drive through only. This barbecue is for the benefit of Hospice Brazos Valley.

The Colorado Valley Independent Cattlemen’s Association (CVICA) annual fundraiser barbecue and trade show is being held Saturday, Feb. 11 at the La Grange KC Hall, located at 190 S. Brown St. The meal consists of barbecue brisket, pinto beans, coleslaw and other sides. The event starts at 4 p.m. free refreshments will be served from 4-6 p.m. Meal starts at 6 p.m. The event features cash door prizes, a gun raffle, silent and regular auctions. Meal and gun raffle tickets are available at the door.

Bingo in Ellinger

The Ellinger C of C Hall will host bingo on Saturday, Feb. 11 beginning at 6 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. $1,500 will be awarded in prizes with a $100 payout each game. 15 games will be played. Bingo dauber must be used. Hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos, desserts and refreshments will be available for purchase. For more information, visit ellingertexas.com.

There’s more The Texas Heroes Museum has expanded its hours of operation to include Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. The museum will continue to be open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum hopes to include Friday mornings and Sunday afternoons when more docents are available. Come to the museum on Saturdays to learn about becoming a docent and compensation.

RT Historical Society Garage Sale

The annual Round Top Area Historical Society garage sale will be held this Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 397 E. Mill St. (behind the Round Top Post Office). Parlor Games at the Kreische House

Kreische Brewery & Monument Hill State Historic Sites will host historic games in the parlor room of the Kreische House on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 12-2 p.m. Travel back in time with our costumed living historians to learn about some of the most popular German-Texan games of the late 1800s. Industry Knights of Columbus The annual Industry Knights of Columbus fried chicken fundraiser will be held Sunday, Feb. 12 at Industry Fireman’s Hall. Meal includes handbreaded fried 1/2 chicken, homemade buttered noodles, and beans. The meal will be served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Dine in or plates to go. The cost for the meal is a $12 donation. The silent auction and live actions begin at 12:30 p.m. Prize drawing will be held after the live auction.

Bingo For Seniors

The Ledbetter Community Center has bingo on Sunday, Feb.12 and Sunday, March 12 beginning at 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. $5 per card covers ten plus games with prizes awarded for each game. Chips, snacks, and drinks are available for a free will donation. This is a non-profit community event for entertainment. Money collected will be used for the purchase of prizes and other expenses.

FWS Corporation Meeting

Fayette Water Supply Corporation will be conducting a meeting of the Board of Directors on Monday, Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the FWSC office located at 200 Bordovsky Rd. in La Grange. All members are encouraged to attend.

Shelby Cemetery Meeting

The Shelby Cemetery Association will meet on Monday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. at the Shelby Fire Station on FM 389.

Women’s Action Guild Meeting The Women’s Action Guild (WAG) is planning their monthly meeting on Feb. 13 at Flatonia United Methodist Church in Newman Hall. There is a side entrance on N. Retired Teachers to Have Field Trip The Fayette County Retired Teachers’ Association are planning a field trip for a luncheon at Robert’s Steakhouse in Flatonia, on Monday, Feb. 13, at 11:30 a.m. All public school retired employees are encouraged to come for food and fellowship. Hermann Sons Life Plum

The Hermann Sons Life Plum February monthly meeting will be held Monday, Feb. 13 at 4 p.m. at the Prairie Valley Schoolhouse located at 2510 Williams Rd. in West Point. Meal and dessert will be provided by the Lodge.

Republican Women Meeting

The Fayette County Republican Women will hold their monthly meeting on Thursday, Feb. 16 at the La Grange City Hall, 155 E. Colorado in La Grange. The speaker will be a representative from Patriot Paws Service Dogs. Their mission statement: “The mission of Patriot Paws Service Dogs is to train and provide service dogs of the highest quality at no cost to disabled American veterans and others with mobile disabilities in order to help restore their physical and emotional independence. Patriot PAWS Service Dogs intends to build partnerships with state and community organizations to help develop and support this goal.” They will bring some “in-training” dogs with them. Guests are always welcome but we especially want to encourage young people to attend who may want to get involved in the program. RT Family Library Guest Speaker The Round Top Family Library will host David Smith, retired FBI Special Agent, Thursday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. in the main library building located at 206 W. Mill St. in Round Top. This is a free program and there will be time for a question and answer afterwards.

Parkinson’s Support Group

The regularly scheduled meeting of the Fayette Area Parkinson’s Support Group will be held on Feb. 16 the third Thursday of the month, at 10 a.m. at the Randolph Recreation Center, 653 E. Pearl in La Grange, in the meeting room immediately next to the gym. There is space for parking with a ramp for anyone who cannot handle steps. Dismissal is promptly at 11 a.m. This month, the group will be using short videos of new resources being developed in research labs and pharma companies. Some guests and returning members will have much information to share with the group. This type of open sharing is the basis of the meetings. Attendance is open to anyone: newly diagnosed patients, caregivers, relatives, those who are curious about this disabling illness which is gathering much publicity due to famous people who are not immune to its effects. La Grange Noon Lions Meeting

Central Texas Food Bank

The Central Texas Food Bank Truck will be at the Waldeck Lutheran Church located at the Junction of FM-1291 and FM-2145 on Saturday, Feb. 18 from 10 until 11 a.m. Food distribution will be walk up method. Volunteers will distribute the food from tables as the clients walk-thru the line making their selections. Every client needs to bring their own sturdy reusable bags and boxes. A few wagons will be furnished by CTFB, but if the client has their own wagon, please bring it.
