Former Fayette Co. Deputy Durrenberger Sworn in as the New Lee County Sheriff

The Lee County Commissioners Court appointed Garrett Durrenberger as the interim sheriff of Lee County following a five-hour executive session on Monday, July 10. Former Lee County Sheriff Casey Goetz resigned his position on June 29. Goetz first took office in 2020. Durrenberger faced Goetz in the Republican primary election that year but lost in a runoff.

Durrenberger, a Lee County native, had previously worked for the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy and investigator. Most recently, he served as Chief Deputy for the Burleson County Sheriff’s Office.
