Flatonia Postmaster Arrested for Murder; Bail Set at Half Million
Investigators with the Lavaca County Sheriff’s Office along with the Texas Rangers arrested Michael McKim of Flatonia for murder last Wednesday, March 22.
McKim, 44, is accused of shooting Jason Pilat, 47 of Shiner, in the yard of Pilat’s home on Sunday, March 5.
McKim was initially arrested that day for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with bond set at $100,000.
He posted bail and was released the next day.
Pilat remained hospitalized until he died on March 17. McKim’s bond was set at $500,000 after his re-arrest for murder last Wednesday. The Lavaca County Jail reported that McKim posted bail and was released on Saturday, March 25.
McKim was the postmaster at the Flatonia Post Office.
