Flatonia Mourns Death of Teacher

Flatonia ISD cancelled classes Wednesday so students and faculty could attend the funeral at Swiss Alp Lutheran Church for elementary teacher Keely Brower, 37, who died Oct. 1 after a short battle with Leukemia.

Several local school districts volunteered additional counseling services to Flatonia ISD this week. Brower was a Schulenburg native, who leaves behind a husband and two sons.

“Keely was a wonderful teacher and an amazing colleague, friend, wife, and mother. We will always miss her big smile and infectious laugh, her kindness, and her willingness to help anyone in need. We will always cherish the memories we have made with her. Please keep the Brower family in your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time,” said Flatonia Superintendent Chris Sodek in a statement Sunday informing school members of her passing.
