Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau Members Recognized
Pictured at the Sept. 20 Flatonia-Cistern Farm Bureau meeting are members who celebrated a birthday and/or an anniversary during the July, August, September quarter. They were recognized with a cake enjoyed by all members. The meeting program included guest speakers, J. Frank Smith, PhD, with the Texas Ramp Project and Chris Scholfield, Fayette County Farm Bureau Agency Manager. Frank works with the Texas Ramp Project covering Fayette, Lee and Colorado counties. He explained that the Texas Ramp Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides free wheelchair ramps to older adults and people with disabilities identified by local health care providers. Chris discussed recent activities of the Fayette County Farm Bureau. They have hired two new agents recently and added 40 members last month. The goal is 75 new members by the end of the year. They are also working on building relationships with the local FHA and FFA members.
