Five LHS Students Advance to State UIL Academic Meet
La Grange High School had quite a showing at Regional UIL academic meet last week in the Nacogdoches/ Carthage areas and are advancing several students to state.
One Act Play competed at Carthage High School Friday, April 26, and the rest of the Academic team competed at SFASU in Nacogdoches on Saturday, April 27.
LHS UIL Academic state qualifiers, who will compete on Tuesday-Wednesday, May 14-15, at The University of Texas at Austin include: Comp. Apps: 1st place Landon von Minden (Coach Tara Bennett) Headline Writing: 3rd place Ella Pineda (Coach Lucy Carr) Literary Criticism 1st place Team: Eleanor Carey (1st place individual), Kylie Zbranek, Charlotte Griffin & Landon von Minden (Coach Laurie Stork) The following students placed at Regionals as well: Current Events 2nd runner-up Team: Landon von Minden (6th place individual), Ely Glisson, Walker Finch, Caleb Stokes (Coach Melanie Bertsch) Accounting 2nd runner-up Team: Jodie Kaspar 7th, John Kaspar 10th, Kylie Zbranek 11th, Lila Rusek 30th (Coach Susie Morgan) Informative Speaking 6th place: Alivia Eindorf Headline Writing: 5th place Camden Coltrain (Coach Lucy Carr) One Act Play placed 4th at their Regional meet. They are directed by Alizabeth Calhoun.

Overall La Grange placed 5th out of around 50 schools in Region 3.
