First Day Traffic Headaches Prompt Responses from LGISD
Long delays for parents picking up elementary kids prompted a pair of apologies from LGISD administrators Thursday after the first day of school.
An online message from superintendent Andy McHazlett stated: “The La Grange ISD Administration Team would like to sincerely apologize for the unforeseen difficulties we encountered during dismissal at the Elementary this afternoon. A number of factors contributed to the extended length of time that the dismissal process took, but please know we are working endlessly to correct and improve this process going forward.”
That message was followed by one from elementary principal Regina Walker: “Let me start off by apologizing for the issues that we had at dismissal. It is our goal to make sure that dismissal is an easy process every day as we know we return your precious children to you.
“We can and will do better. Through our troubleshooting of the issues that we encountered today, we have determined the problems that we need to fix.”
The second day of pickups Friday reportedly went much smoother.
